Goblin Nest Walkthrough Guide/Tips for new players

This is a guide for Goblin Nest regarding the overall game and its mechanics for new players or those who want tips.

Gameplay Basics

This Guide will contain spoilers, so if you really only play games like this for the story, you may want to skip it.

Mood, Food, and Gold

Mood is the symbol at the top left of your screen. Green gives a buff to your raid income in both money and food, yellow is neutral, and red gives a debuff. Maintaining a food supply prevents some of you goblins from dying everyday and keeps up your mood. Why am I writing about something so basic you may ask? Well to be honest, mood isn’t much of a problem. Its good to have but not essential. You should always be raiding and quantity is far more important than quality in this regard. Additionally, excess girls can be sold and will almost always make up for any mood based money losses. Similarly, once you hit midgame your primary food supply will come from selling milk which if you constantly raid and replace girls, you’ll have more than enough of.

Small Breeding Cells

Small breeding cells are very simple. The further down the list they are, the bigger the mood buff and the more money earned. to check the exact money and mood buffs, move your cursor to the left edge of the breeding/pleasure cell selection. If you just need to grow your numbers, don’t hesitate to get cheap cells. Small breeding cells can be used by goblins and hobgoblins and should be placed with them in mind.

Pleasure and Display Cells

Pleasure cells are solely for mood buffs and money. Their main benefit is that the girls don’t have to be shuffled around every minute or so. Pleasure cells aren’t strictly necessary and a similar effect can be gained by simply having more breeding cells. However, early on these cells do offer the largest mood buffs and can be good if you want to keep your overall mood high. They’re also good ways to still get use out of infertile girls or to act as external storage if you don’t want to use them yet. Pleasure cells also need to be cleaned so either position them next to your cleaner or check on them every now and again. Displays are similar to pleasure cells but only provide a small mood boost to goblins who walk past them. Though their purpose is to mitigate mood loss from transporters, mood itself isn’t much of an issue and can be mitigated just as well by having higher quality breeding cells. If you want displays, I recommend sticking the next to entrances. For permanent girl placement, stick to infertile girls. It should also be noted that the quality and type of girl doesn’t matter, the buff will always be the same.

Small Utility Cells

Birthing 2 is a direct upgrade to Birthing 1 and should always be upgraded when the opportunity presents itself. Milking 1 however offers a distinct benefit compared to milking 2 which will be discussed in the tentacle section. Milking 1 is significantly faster than milking 2 however it requires a goblin and only gives one milk compared to the multiple milking 2 gets you. Milking one is more efficient when it comes to time overall so if you want faster breeding, go with milking 1. Drink is the other alternative to milking and encourages goblin reproduction. The food it gives is negligible, the primary benefit is goblin production, drink lets a goblin breed an additional time and gives them a mood boost. Note that this doesn’t work for hobgoblins or orcs so don’t place them on your hobgoblin or orc production lines.

Tentacle Cells

The cleaner is essential for everyone who doesn’t want to get carpal tunnel. It does exactly what it says on the tin, it cleans in both directions. Only pleasure and breeding cells need to be cleaned alongside the special stations so keep that in mind and don’t waste cell space on cleaning the milking zone. Milking 2 is also a tentacle cell and offers increased milk production and automation at the cost of time. If not prepared for, milking 2 can really hold up the line and result in less overall breeding efficiency. It is worth it, but you’ll need to compensate by having extra milking cells or a drink cell. I’ll go over placement in the basic line section. The benefits of tentacle breeding are primarily the mood buffs and the lack of interaction. You can shove a couple of these in an unused corner and forget about them until the girls need replacing. There’s no cleaning, births happen right then and there. Sounds great right? Eh. I’ll go into more detail in the troops section, but I only ever had around five total tentacle cells once I finished the run. Focus on goblinkin first and foremost.
Recover is an odd one. Its late game, so the idea is probably to regen the eggs of high quality girls. Truthfully, its never worth it. You should just be raiding for more. The only possible exception is regening the special girls but really they aren’t worth it either.

Big Breeding Cells

Similar to the small cells, the later cells offer more benefits. However certain big cells can only be used by certain goblinkin. Gbang 1 and 2 can be used by goblins and hobgoblins and can serve up to two goblinkin at a time. Gbang 3 breeds for orcs but can also be used by lesser goblinkin for the mood and money. The last three are solely for orcs and get better as you go down the list.

Big Utility Cells

Transfer is essential for automation. Hobgoblins only transfer one girl at a time and need to travel to the transfer cell to get started and back to the transfer cell once the job is done so always have an entrance nearby the transfer cell. The process is pretty slow depending on how long the line is so you may want two transfers for a longer line. Patrol is very expensive and offers minimal benefit. Patrol gives a good speed buff to all units who are next to the patroller but only for people who are next to the patroller. When the cell range is extended the amount of space patrolled is extended and actually makes it worse. The best use for patrol is to have them next to transfers but really aren’t worth the space. Cloning is just for making trophies and for late game decoration. Clones only get ten eggs but do inherit the special abilities of the original except for Nyx. The people you want to clone (the special girls) aren’t usually worth cloning except for maybe Selene. Of course since you’ve already won by this point I’m not sure how useful it is overall.

Shrines

Shrines are under the special tab for big cells. Each one offers special benefits for their cost. Broadly speaking however, they’re mostly useless. The R shrine gives 3 food per cell extension which once you get to late game is worthless especially for the cost. The S shrine limits deaths due to starvation but if you’re starving you probably have other problems that the shrine can’t help with. You would probably be better off using the money to improve a line. The F shrine is the most useful, it replaces infertile girls in breeding cells with the same type of girl if you have one in the prison and chooses at random if you don’t have a girl of the same type. Good for automation but personally I like having more direct control over that process. The L shrine is important for the final progression and acts as both a pseudo cleaner and as the special cell for the final unique girl. Not terribly useful on its own, but you need it.

Entrances

Entrance placement is probably the most important. Ideally, you’ll have them near activity hotspots, primarily breeding, pleasure, and transfer cells. You can also restrict which goblinkin can use which floors. Keep in mind that this doesn’t apply to utility tasks. EG a floor that forbids hobgoblins can still use transfer utilities.

The Goblin Caste System

Each girl captured gives a different type of goblinkin when bred. You should always aim for higher quality obviously, but the type of girl matters more.

Victims:

Peasants – The first type you capture and generally the least valuable. Primarily found in the village and the castle.

Nuns – Primarily found in the village and the castle.

Knights – Can be found everywhere at varying levels.

Shamans – Found primarily in the mountains and sometimes in the castle

Warriors – Found primarily in the mountains and the castle

Clerics – Primarily found in the forest village and the castle

Rangers – Primarily found in the forest village and the castle

Samurais – Primarily found in the castle and sometimes found in the level 3 forest village.

Goblin Subtypes

Basic Goblin – The first and the worst. They’re only really used early game or if you need cannon fodder. Their main usefulness is with their versatility as they can be in your front or backline. Made from peasants and warriors. If you really need them, use peasants. Warriors are much more useful.

Goblin Cleric – The best goblin hands down. Their skill stops your goblins from dying in raids (or more likely resurrects them afterwards). Each level of their skill, as measured by the yellow bar next to the icon underneath their picture in the formation menu, decreases the odds of a goblin dying by 4 percent. once that level hits 25, your soldiers are effectively immortal and you can now raid without consequence. These guys should always be the priority when breeding and upgrading goblins. Made from nuns and shamans

Goblin Warrior – Not bad. Their skill increases the raid power of your frontline and really shines with numbers. Made with knights and samurais.

Goblin Rogue – Only really useful when you’re gathering items early on. Once you have them, their usefulness dries up. If you raid constantly you don’t even really need them.

Hobgoblin Subtypes

Basic Hobgoblin – Better than basic goblins and are good if you really need gold. You’ll have a steady supply of them as Nyx produces them exclusively. They’re also versatile and can be put in the front or back line. Made from Clerics, Samurai, and Nyx. Not super great late game, Clerics and Samurai are better used elsewhere.

Hobgoblin Cleric – The increased capture rate skill can be useful. Second best among the hobgoblins. Made from Peasants and Shamans.

Hobgoblin Warrior – Their skill speeds up your raid party. Useful if you haven’t gotten the upgrade and good late game once you’ve gotten level 25 on Goblin Clerics. Really only a utility skill though. Made from Knights and Nuns.

Hobgoblin Rogue – The best Hobgoblin. Similar to the goblin warrior, their skill increases the power of your backline and is basically essential if you want to climb the final zone. Made from Rangers and Warriors

Ork Subtypes

Orc Pirate (AKA Basic Orc) – All Orcs are great and the Orc Pirate is no exception. You’ll have a steady supply thanks to Selene and their skill really helps out lategame. Their skill increases the skill level of your frontline at a 1 to 1 rate. This scales massively as time goes on. Made from Peasants and Shamans. Probably the best use of Peasants.

Orc Warrior – Similarly, the Orc Warrior increases the skill level of the back line at a 1 to 1 rate. If you haven’t gotten level 25 with goblin clerics, Orc Warriors can push you over the edge. Made from Nuns and Knights.

Orc Black Knight – Probably the least useful of the Orcs. Their skill is only really useful when grinding for special girls endgame. Their raw power is still good however. Made from Clerics and Rangers.

Orc Shaman – Their skill increases the power of your front and backline 2 percent per skill level. Really good for lategame scaling.

Breeding priority

In my opinion, breeding priority should go as follows:

Early to Mid game
Shamans, Nuns and Knights for goblins
Rangers, Peasants, and Warriors for hobgoblins

Late Game
Nuns and Shamans for Goblins
Rangers for Hobgoblins
Peasants, Clerics, Warriors, and Samurai for Orcs

Now you may be wondering why I didn’t mention tentacles in this segment. The reason is, I don’t think they’re worth the cost. the best skill among them, potentially increase the star quality of a captured girl, isn’t great and their main benefit, that being the lack of attention you have to give them, is mostly mitigated once transfer is available. If you have some spare room and money to burn go ahead and throw some spares their way, but goblinkin are just so much better.

SPECIAL Girls

Special girls act as boss encounters, key points of progression, and all have special uses. That being said, besides their looks, none of them are all that useful overall. They only ever produce basic goblinkin so they tend to be better used as trophies or for pleasure zones. It should also be noted that most special girls have special cells. their cells do allow for breeding, but including them in a production line is difficult. Transfers tend to prioritize what’s closest to them and unless the special cell is closest, the special girl might be placed in a generic cell while the special cell goes unused. In my opinion, special cells should be treated the same as pleasure cells and be kept away from transfers.

Hathor

The first boss (And the thiccest). She shows up when you level up village raiding and purchase the cowbell. She has fifteen eggs and produces milk regularly without the need for pregnancy. Her special zone is the dairy. A big cell that steadily produces 2 star milk at the cost of keeping one goblin occupied. She can also be bred by Goblins and Hobgoblins though once you unlock the dairy, she’ll probably be infertile. Useful but not essential.

Nyx

Second boss and gateway to Hobgoblins. She shows up once you start leveling up all locations except the castle. She tends to bounce around so check every raiding site once you get the message. She has infinite eggs and only produces hobgoblins (even when breeding with orcs). She doesn’t have a special cell but is still probably the best of the special girls.

Selene

Third boss and gateway to Orcs. She shows up once you start leveling locations to level 3, the forest village in particular. She only has ten eggs but she regenerates so she effectively has infinite. She only produces Orc Pirates. She saves elves (Rangers and Clerics) so catch her as soon as possible. Her special cell is the Giant cell. It’s the only place she can be and acts as a breeding cell and a birthing 2 cell so you don’t have to collect from her. The only downside is that you can’t milk her.

Morrigan

Fourth boss and the least useful overall. She shows up once you start maxing out locations and reach level 3 in the castle. Be careful as she can kill some of your raiders if she isn’t captured. She has sixteen eggs and supposedly is always fertilized when bred. Her special cell is Chains, a Gbang cell for Orcs exclusively (There’s a BLACKED joke in there somewhere). Chains suffers from the same problems that dairy does and doesn’t offer any other benefit. Basically just a glorified peasant.

Bastet

Purchased from the trader at $1000. She has litters of 2 or more when bred and has 12 eggs. Best used with Orcs but not that useful otherwise. Doesn’t have a special cell. Mostly just an endgame trophy.

Lilith

Goblin Nest Walkthrough Guide/Tips for new players

The final boss and the gateway to the final location. Shows up after you build the Lilith shrine and unlocks the tower location. Has 666 eggs and her special cell is the Lilith shrine which acts as a high value cell anyone can use and acts as a pseudo cleaner (goblins ignore cleanliness in the shrine’s range). She can be used as an interesting piece of a line, but as the final boss, once you get her the games basically over. The tower she unlocks gives you access to identical copies of special girls that can also be sold.

Basic Production Lines

Basic automated production lines consist of a cleaner covering all breeding cells, a transfer utility, and an entrance placed nearby. As cleaner cells go both ways, you can either have a pleasure zone followed by a breeding zone or two breeding zones. I find that for every two breeding cells you have, you’ll want one birthing cell and one milking cell. If using milking 2, then you should always have an extra milking cell or two to compensate for the extended milking time. Alternatively, you could include a drink cell, but since a girl can be drunk from multiple times, having that extra milking cell could be necessary. Entrance placement should be done next the breeding/pleasure cells and the transfer cells (Display cells optional). My lines tend to look like Entrance -> Cleaning -> Breeding -> Transfer -> Entrance -> Birthing -> Milking.

Granted, I’m no speed runner. This could be optimized further. an F shrine could be included for faster replacing, multiple transfers could be included for longer lines, Displays could be added, or special cells could be included. What works best / Looks best will be up to you. Tentacles can be placed anywhere you have space but shouldn’t be near any cleaning or transfers as they don’t use them. The same for recover or clone cells if you want them.

Thanks for reading and I hope you have as much fun as I did! Here the original guide
